Small groups, matched standards
A beginner and a league player need different sessions. We group by age and standard so nobody is bored and nobody is out of their depth.
- Squads set by age and ability
- Beginners always welcome
Astra Champions Academy coaches young cricketers across Metro Detroit, from a first session with a bat to representative cricket.
Cricket is growing fast in Metro Detroit, but a lot of young players still learn it in car parks and back gardens. We run structured, coached sessions at four locations so that any child who wants to play properly can.
Every squad is grouped by age and standard, every session is recorded, and every parent can see what their child worked on. That is the whole idea.
Three things shape every session we run.
A beginner and a league player need different sessions. We group by age and standard so nobody is bored and nobody is out of their depth.
Drills only count if they survive a match. Sessions move from technique into game situations so players learn to make decisions, not just repeat actions.
Coaches log attendance and feedback after each session, so progress is something you can read rather than something you have to ask about at pickup.
Cricket asks a lot of a young player. Sessions rotate across all five areas rather than drilling one of them into the ground.
Grip, stance, run-up and release, built up slowly and corrected early before habits set.
Catching, throwing, backing up, and knowing where to be. The part that wins junior matches most often.
Movement, stamina, and how to lose a wicket without losing your head.
The things every parent wants confirmed before a first session, in one place.
RegisterAdd who holds a current first aid certificate and what happens if a player is injured during a session.
Every player completes a waiver before taking the field, and we keep an emergency contact for each child on file.
The quickest way to know whether we are right for your child is to bring them along once and see.
